Grade 7: Individuals and Societies
Individuals and Societies encourages learners to respect and understand the world around them. It equips them with the necessary skills to inquire into historical, contemporary, geographical, political, social, economic, religious, technological and cultural factors that have an impact on individuals, societies and environments.
Grade 7 social studies is an integrated course on Texas and US History.
In many ways the story of Texas mirrors the story of the United States. To fully understand the people and ideas that shaped Texas it a foundational understanding is needed of the people and ideas that shaped the American nation.
In this course students will examine the key people, events and concepts that led to the founding and forming of the United States and the Republic of Texas. Students will participate in inquiry from a number of perspectives, bringing together their knowledge and understandings using multiple academic disciplines and learning strategies.
